Mrs. Rachel Underwood

Hello! I am the counselor for the Class of 2031 at Noblesville West Middle School! I am the newest member of the NWMS counseling department, but have been a school counselor for almost 10 years. My entire career has been dedicated to the middle level and I love working with these students! The Noblesville Schools community has been amazing to be a part of so far. I look forward to supporting your students through their remaining years at West. Go Millers!

Atmosphere of Teamwork

NWMS school counselors work with a class of students to support them through each grade level. Counselors meet with teachers weekly during team meeting time to review student concerns, brainstorm interventions, and communicate with parents. Counselors collaborate with the school social workers and school-based therapist to connect students and families with additional support. Counselors also work with school administrators assigned to their grade level teams.

Classroom Guidance

Counselors teach a variety of classroom guidance lessons throughout the year in order to provide students with information relevant to their needs. These lessons may include study skills, career exploration, decision-making skills, and future educational planning among other topics.  The team teachers, administrators, and student data gathered from needs assessments help counselors decide what lessons to provide throughout the school year.

Counseling Services

Counseling services are available to all students both individually and in groups.  These services are designed to address the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of students. Groups are formed based on student need and provided by both school counselors and school social workers. Students are connected to services through self-referrals, teacher recommendations and parent communication. If you feel your child is in need of a particular service, please contact the appropriate grade level counselor.
