Mr. Moorehead

In my 9th year as a guidance counselor, I am excited to to be back in 6th grade.  Throughout the year, our 6th graders and I will be tackling several topics such as: social/emotional concepts, neuroscience & brain development, work values, and various soft skills.

In terms of my background:

I grew up in Crown Point, Indiana - a city that is often times referred to as being a part of "the region" - and am heavily influenced by the culture of Chicago.  My love for Chicago sports runs deep! Go Cubs Go!

I have graduated with degrees from both Purdue University and Butler University in secondary education and school counseling, respectively. Boiler Up & Go Dawgs!

Prior to becoming a counselor, I taught Sociology and Psychology at Pike High School and have been involved in the world of education for the past 18 years.

I hope to work with your son/daughter to make this an enjoyable school year for them here at NWMS!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Atmosphere of Teamwork   Each Counselor works with an Assistant Principal to support a grade level of teachers and students. Counselors meet with teachers weekly during team meeting time to review student concerns, brainstorm behavioral interventions and to also meet with parents.  Counselors also work with Special Education teachers and families during case conferences and meetings.
