Mrs. Hillary Cooper

I am the school counselor for the class of 2032 at Noblesville West Middle School. This is my tenth year here at West where I have been a teacher and counselor. I am looking forward to working with students during their time in middle school and helping them explore social/emotional topics, academic skills, and the future possibilities for college and career opportunities through classroom lessons and small groups. Please reach out if you have any questions. Go Millers!

Atmosphere of Teamwork

Each school counselor works with an assistant principal to support a grade level of teachers and students. Counselors meet with teachers weekly during team meeting time to review student concerns, brainstorm interventions, and also to meet with parents.  Counselors collaborate with the school social worker and school-based therapist.  Counselors also work with special education teachers and families during case conferences and meetings.

Classroom Guidance

Counselors teach a variety of classroom guidance lessons throughout the year in order to provide students with information relevant to their needs.  These lessons may include study skills, career exploration, decision-making skills, and future educational planning among other topics.  The team teachers and administrators as well as data from needs assessments help counselors decide what lessons are most needed with each team of students.

Counseling Services

Counseling services are available to all students both individually and in groups.  These services are designed to address the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of students.  Groups are formed based on student need. If you feel your child is in need of a particular service, please contact the appropriate grade level counselor.  Teachers also refer students to groups based on the needs they observe in the classroom.  Additionally, we also have a school social worker that we can refer students to for more individualized services or counseling groups.
